A Busy Start to 2026 at Old Fire New Flame

As we move through May, it’s been a strong and busy start to the year here at Old Fire New Flame. The first few months of 2026 have seen a real continued interest in reclaimed cast iron fireplaces, with customers looking for pieces that bring character, craftsmanship, and history back into their homes.

One thing we’ve noticed this year is how many people are moving away from flat-pack interiors and looking for original features again. Whether it’s a Victorian bedroom fireplace, an Edwardian combination grate, or a decorative tiled insert for a period property renovation, there’s a growing appreciation for genuine reclaimed pieces that simply can’t be replicated by modern reproductions.

Over the past few months we’ve sourced and supplied fireplaces for everything from full townhouse restorations to smaller projects where customers just wanted one standout feature in a room. It’s always rewarding seeing old cast iron fireplaces given a second life rather than disappearing into salvage yards or being replaced with mass-produced alternatives.

Stock has been moving quickly this spring, particularly bedroom combinations and complete inserts with original detailing still intact. Demand always tends to increase as people begin planning renovations and home projects for the warmer months, so we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to keep fresh stock arriving regularly.

One of the best parts of dealing in reclaimed fireplaces is that no two pieces are ever truly identical. Every fireplace has its own age, character, patina, and history. Some arrive heavily blacked and untouched for decades, while others still carry traces of old paint, tiles, or restoration work from years gone by. That uniqueness is exactly what many customers are searching for.

As we head further into 2026, my focus remains the same:

  • sourcing quality original cast iron fireplaces
  • offering honest descriptions and advice
  • helping customers find the right piece for their property
  • preserving architectural history wherever possible

We’d like to thank everyone who has purchased from us so far this year, recommended us, or followed along online. It’s hugely appreciated and helps keep these original fireplaces in circulation for future generations.

If you’re currently renovating, restoring a period home, or simply searching for a fireplace with genuine character, keep an eye on our latest stock as new pieces are arriving regularly throughout May and beyond.
